Life After College Series-2: Professional Schools and Non-profit Organizations

Mark your calendars! This is a great opportunity for all HD majors who are interested in going to professional school in the near or distant future, or seeking careers in non-profit organizations. A select group of graduates of the Comparative Human Development who are working or studying in these fields will join us to share their insights and experiences and to answer your questions. CAPS representatives who are experts in these areas will be joining us as well.
When: Thursday, February 22, 5:30-7:30 PM.
Where: HM 284.
Why? To hear insiders' point of view about being a student at a professional school, to learn important tips about application process, and to find answers to your questions about working at non-profit organizations.

Class of 2009 Faculty Roundtables
Faculty Roundtables is a formal dinner for faculty members and second-years in the College, and is an opportunity for you to dine and converse with faculty members from a Collegiate Division or academic department that interests you. Over dinner, you will be paired with a small group of students who share your interests, as well as have the opportunity to enjoy dessert with the Dean of the College, the Collegiate Masters, faculty members, and the Class of 2009. We hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity. This year’s event will take place on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Ida Noyes Hall. CAPS: Jeff Metcalf Internship Information Sessions
The Jeff Metcalf Fellows Program provides paid, substantive internships exclusively to students in the College at the University of Chicago. While the actual opportunities may differ slightly each year, internships are available throughout the United States and other countries with opportunities offered in a wide variety of fields, including arts & culture, public policy, research and education.
Here are the dates of the information sessions for the program:

HUDV 29500: Independent Research Consultation.
Are you a fourth-year HD major who is not seeking departmental honors? Do you wish to engage in a minor research project in your HD concentration area to gain research experience and improve your resume? Then there is a course for you: Independent Research Consultation.
You may register for Independent Research Consultation as an elective course to obtain consultation and guidance from a graduate preceptor. The course may be taken for two quarters, but only one may count toward completion of HD program requirements. A paper based on the research project is required in order to receive a quality grade.
